DEADLINE EXTENSION! We will be accepting submissions until we have enough to publish another magazine. If you write, draw, take photos of interesting things, please send them in for possible publication. We can't produce another magazine without stuff to put in it. So, send your submissions now.
What am I looking for in submissions?
I am looking for any type of creative work, poetry, fiction, and creative
non-fiction such as journal entries and personal essays. Also, The Pond accepts photography and artwork, black and white are preferred.
We need lots of photography, but please do not send photos from inside the shows (pictures of the band).
Topics need not revolve around the band. I am looking for a
good blend of entries dealing with everything, including but not
limited to tour and phish.
If you did not get a submission form on tour or lost it, submission forms are available here. (The page layout for the form is a little funny right now, too many spaces, but I'll try to fix it ASAP.) Just print one, fill it out, and send it along with your submission. All submissions must be accompanied by a submission form. We need lots of submissions, so please send anything you might want to share with everybody.
What is The Pond?
The Pond is a brand new literary magazine written entirely by Phish phans.
The Pond is not a journal of setlists or show reviews. In fact, it has litle to do with the band at all.
Rather, this magazine is by and for the phish community. The Pond is comprised of
poetry, artwork, fiction, essays, photography, and prose poetry.
You may be wondering who am I. My name is Bryan Kirk. Last year I recieved a grant from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa to create The Pond.
This spring, I graduated from college, almost. I am currently taking my final two classes. Hopefully, I will get some pictures up on the site soon so you can see my smiling face.
I decided to do a second edition of The Pond in hopes that the magazine will gain support and be a successful, annual project where creative people in the phish community can showcase their work.
But the most important thing is support from the community.
If you think the project is a worthwhile project and
you are interested in what brothers in sisters in the
community have to say through words and images,
please help support The Pond. I am asking for a generous donation of $5.00 per copy.
Order forms are available here.
